Arsalan Khalid Bhatti is a Northern Virginia native from Woodbridge, for over 25 years. He left the area for education and is now excited to return to one of the best places to live, excluding the traffic.
Dr. Bhatti earned a B.Sc. in Biochemistry at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, where he was in the top 20% of the university and graduated summa cum laude. He then completed his DDS from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond where he found his passion for oral and maxillofacial surgery. This passion took him to Houston, Texas, where he completed a one-year internship at one of the largest OMFS programs in the country. During his time there, he had the privilege of working in the world-renowned Texas Medical Center, working and taking calls at affiliated hospitals, including Memorial B. Hermann, Methodist, Ben Taub, and Lyndon B. Johnson, with a heavy emphasis on trauma, pathology, and dental surgery.
He then completed a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at one of the most well-known programs in the country, the University of Maryland in Baltimore, and received a one-year certificate from the General Surgery Department at the University of Maryland. He had the opportunity to learn dentoalveolar surgery, which includes tooth extractions, dental implants, bone grafting, and oral and IV sedation, at the first dental school in the country. He also has extensive training in TMJ surgery, having worked with one of the best surgeons in the country.
While at Maryland, Dr. Bhatti was involved in a wide range of benign and malignant pathology cases. This includes head and neck cancer cases and their microvascular reconstructions. Through his intense and demanding residency, he has gained vast experience in all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including corrective jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery), anesthesia, medical emergencies, management, airway management, etc. By working at the busiest trauma centers in the country, Shock Trauma in Baltimore and Memorial Hermann in Houston, Dr. Bhatti maintains a strong interest in trauma surgery. During residency, he has also presented at several meetings, including the Maryland Society of OMS and The Donald Tilghman Symposium.
He is excited to bring his meticulous surgical skills and variety of experiences back to the area and to the Greater Washington OMFS team to provide the highest level of care for his patients.
